Prayer: Is It Permissible to Cut Trees in a Masjid Yard to Expand the Prayer Area?

In order to enlarge a masjid here, it has become necessary to cut down some of the trees which exist in its yard. Given that the masjid’s yard is quite big and it has numerous trees, is it permissible to do so?

Answer #412:

There is no problem in it if cutting the trees is not considered an alteration in the endowment.
