Khums: Does a Long-Term House Debt Reduce Annual Khums Liability?
English:
Question #865:
I have an outstanding debt on the house and I will remain indebted for 12 years, please enlighten me in regard to my liability to khums, i.e. is this debt to be subtracted from the gain of the year?
Answer #865:
You are allowed to pay the installments of a loan which was spent last year or before that for constructing a house to settle in and similar living expenses from your gains during this khums year. But, the very debt is subtracted from this year’s gains if they are spent after receiving the first income of this year.
