Fasting: Disapproved Fasts

Practical Laws of Islam as per the teachings of Ayatullah Sistani

Ruling 1715

Fasting is disapproved on the Day of ʿĀshūrāʾ[¹] and on the day that one doubts is the Day of ʿArafah[²] or Eid al-Aḍḥā.[³]

1. The 10th of Muḥarram.

2. The 9th of Dhū al-Ḥijjah.

3. The 10th of Dhū al-Ḥijjah.
