Spirtual Retreat: Conditions for a Valid Iʿtikaf
Practical Laws of Islam as per the teachings of Ayatullah Sistani
Ruling 1723
The following are the conditions for a valid iʿtikāf.
i. The muʿtakif must be a Muslim.
ii. The muʿtakif must be sane (ʿāqil).
iii. Iʿtikāf must be performed with the intention of attaining proximity to Allah.
