Buying and Selling: Shaving the Beard and Taking a Fee
Practical Laws of Islam as per the teachings of Ayatullah Sistani
Ruling 2089
Shaving one’s beard and taking a fee for doing so is not permitted, based on obligatory precaution. The exception to this rule is if it is done out of necessity, or it would result in harm or hardship (ḥaraj) that cannot normally be endured, even if that hardship amounts to being mocked or insulted.
